From 'The Gardener's Assistant' by Robert Thompson, with this new edition revised and extended by Thomas Moore 'assisted by eminent practical gardeners' and published by Blackie & Son, London in 1878. The first edition of the Gardener's Assistant was published in 1859 and final version appears to be the 'new edition' published 1913 by The Gresham Publishing Company in six volumes.
