During the 17th-18th centuries, musicians studying or seeking better employment (from court aristocrats, etc) traveled all over Europe. One of them, Mozart, started traveling throughout Europe at the age of 6 and spent one third of his life doing so. However, traveling was not easy as riding on the uneven roads were extremely uncomfortable. There was also the threat of robber attacks at night, and carriages overturning due to their wheels breaking.

  • 作品解説 / Object Note (Japanese): この時代の音楽家は、自己研鑽や、より良い雇用主(宮廷貴族等)を求めるためにも諸国を旅していました。その中でも、モーツァルトは、6歳からヨーロッパ中を旅し生涯の3分の1を旅についやしました。しかし、その旅は決して楽なものでなく、道路がデコボコのため乗り心地は最悪で、車輪が壊れ横転したり、夜は盗賊の襲撃を受けることもありました。
