This framed original drawing was created by artist George Lichty (born George Lichtenstein) whose editorial cartoon series, “Grin and Bear It” (begun in 1932) was syndicated by Field Enterprises in Chicago. The 1972 cartoon illustrated the caption, likely composed by Lichty’s writing partner, Arthur Erenberg, about the perceived disinterest of the American public in the lunar missions by 1972.The card was installed in the Museum's "Apollo to the Moon" exhibit in 1976 and later became a part of the Museum's formal artifact collection.
