It is always fascinating to see a manor house in the Portuguese rural landscape. Isolated or built within the boundaries of small settlements, the manor or noble house of the 17th and 18th centuries has very specific aesthetic features. Their scale – often not much larger than other houses around them –, their horizontal layout, the presence of a garden and, often, of a plot of farming land associated to them, gives them a special charm accentuated over time.
