Semi-spherical iron helmet. There are a several perforations on the edge for hanging the aventail or mail collar that protected the rest of the head and neck.

It was found at the castle of Ausa Gaztelu (Ataun, Gipuzkoa), to the north of the Aralar mountain range. In the Lower Middle Ages (11th to 14th centuries), this castle stood in the kingdom of Navarre and played a key role in the war between Navarre and Castile.
