The short-lived partnership of American John Bliss and Englishman Frederick Creighton produced a little known innovation in temperature compensation of the balance wheel. Their ‘H-shaped’ balance wheel features in all chronometers after No.1036 (1845). The last Bliss & Creighton chronometer was made in 1848.
