National Palace of Ajuda
Lisbon, Portugal

In this painting painted in 1858 Lasinsky captured the view over the castle of Hohenzollern, located between the cities of Hechingen and Bisingen in what is colloquially called the Volksmund (Mount of the People), the summit of Mount Hohenzollern of the Jura mountain range. The castle was also property of the princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. The painting was offered to D. Estefânia on the occasion of her marriage to the King of Portugal.
