The inner wings show on the right the saints Jacobus the Elder and Maria Magdalena as well as the Naumburg bishop Johannes III von Schönberg as donator and on the left the saints Philippus and Jacobus the Younger as well as the Naumburg bishop Philipp von Wittelsbach as donator. The depiction of Saint Mary Magdalene in the Naumburg altarpiece is considered one of the most beautiful depictions of women in the work of Lucas Cranach.
