In response to the criticism directed towards Andrew Jackson by the Republican nominee William Crawford, who is supported by Martin Van Buren, Jackson stands tall in his uniform while surrounded by many vicious dogs. An etching with aquatint and engraving by James Akin, this cartoon was considered a critical commentary on the press treatment of Andrew Jackson, and a commentary on nominating candidates by caucus.
