Seoul, South Korea

Large numbers of Maebyeong celadon vases were made during the Goryeo period. The small and elegantly finished mouth, round shoulder, and narrow base are fine characteristics of Maebyeong celadon. Lotus patterns are engraved on the body and key-fret design around the foot of the vase. Many fine examples of celadon fragments were discovered at the celadon kiln in Sadang-ri, Daegu-myeon, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam Province.
