Jane Teller has acknowledged Romanian sculptor Constantine Brancusi as a powerful influence from whom she learned to "absorb the primitive and to transport it into a contemporary mode." In her monumental wooden sculpture Celebration Totem, Teller stacks circular, cylindrical, and crescent forms, one on top of the other, to create a work with a powerful presence that alludes to the ongoing creative rhythms and forces of nature.
