Ceramic ceremonial vessel with stepped designs ML010418

This sculptural ceramic bottle portrays in its upper body incised and painted stepped motifs, and semicircular bands. The stepped motif is referred to the connection between the worlds (upper, earthy, inner) and the dynamic between them. The symbols in the shape of an arch usually refer to the celestial vault. (UH)

Esta es una botella de cerámica con motivos escalonados entrelazados incisos y pintados en la el cuerpo del contenedor, y bandas semicirculares incisas y pintadas en la parte superior del mismo. El motivo del escalonado está referido en el arte precolombino a la conexión entre los mundos (superior, terrenal, inferior). Los signos en forma de arco son representados también frecuentemente y están referidos al arco celeste. (UH)
