Chang Shana Dunhuang Silk Pattern Copy

Garment pattern is an important part of Dunhuang’s decorative pattern. A large amount of boddhisattvas and disciples wear garments with patterns from different historical periods. These patterns enrich the images. Due to differences in social status, ethnicity, and era, the garments have different styles. The garment patterns truthfully reflected popular patterns in different eras. They provide great image reference value for the research on garment patterns, dye print craftsmanship, style and the application of material in different periods in China. These garment patterns are copies of Dunhuang Mogao Caves mural paintings made by the famous Chinese artistic design educator and artistic designer, Professor Chang Shana. These copies reflected the dyeing and weaving style and their changes through different dynasties.
