Oil painting of Charles Daubeny. Daubeny was made the fifth Sherardian Professor of Botany at Oxford University in 1834. Together with William Baxtor he transformed the appearance of the Garden in the early nineteenth century. Upon appointment appointment he renamed the Oxford Physicke Garden to the ‘Oxford Botanic Garden’.
