Liceo Classico "Pantini-Pudente" of Vasto decided to participate to "the School adopts a monument" project as part of the initiatives put in place in the current school year, 2016/17, aimed at analyzing peculiarities and valuable notes of the conspicuous patrimony of sacred art of the city of Abruzzo, in order to invite students to a more careful knowledge of the monument and attention to its the values .. Knowledge is in fact an essential premise for every protection action; respect and care reserved for cultural heritage, which speaks of our past, arise from the awareness of its scope. The project is therefore an opportunity to rediscover the hidden beauties of the city, celebrated by specialists but often lost in the memory of the community. From the analysis and evaluation of architectural testimonies, a reflection on the themes of territorial identity, ever more nuanced in times of globalization, strengthened thanks to the critical appropriation of aspects of the city heritage, are often little considered, if not completely ignored. The adoption of the eighteenth-century church of Santa Maria del Carmine is part of the efforts to critical recovery of a monumental emergency no longer seen as an impoverished branch of the Kingdom of Naples but an active part of a cultural debate set in motion in large cities of artistic elaboration.
