Of midnight-blue silk crepe, with unusual inset coral silk-crepe box pleats extending down the center front and edged by diamond-shaped border, collar and cuffs; then decorated with self-covered buttons and matching back belt. The dress is constructed to appear as though sedate, yet the extended width of the box pleats at the front and the hidden pleats at the side allow twirly, fluid movement. The dress was worn in the film "Stowaway" by Ching-Ching (Shirley Temple) as she learns that Uncle Tommy (Robert Young) and Susan Parker (Faye Alice) are about to be married and adopt her.
