Identified as a possible chopper, this tool is made from Tongue River Silicified Sediment (TRSS). TRSS is a commonly found from the Heart River in southwestern North Dakota to the Moreau River in northeastern South Dakota and westward into Montana. Composed of fine to medium-grained sand cemented by silica, TRSS is one of the main lithic (stone tools) materials used in this region.
