Cigarette case belonging to Isak Rosenbaum, c.1925. Isak Rosenbaum was among the many Jewish men beaten and arrested on Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, November 9 and 10, 1938, when the Nazis vandalized Jewish property in Germany and Austria. Sent to Dachau, Isak was able to write letters to his wife, Rosalia. In one of his letters, he wrote, "I left my watch and cigarette case on the piano. Save them. family's travel documents were in order and, upon Isak's release, the family was able to immigrate to the United States.
