  • wall label: Silver is the most common metal used by the Berber peoples to make jewelry. Silver coins may be used as decorative elements or melted down as a source of metal. Both local and foreign coins are attached to clasps, necklaces, earrings and headpieces as bangles and pendants. Bold triangular shapes, ornamentation of silver, color enamel and gemstones are all typical of Berber jewelry. The pins on top of the triangular element are attached to each side of a cloak, holding it in place.
