The Frick Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, United States

As a teenager, Childs Frick served as captain of the "Clayton Cadets," a group of boys who lived in the nearby neighborhoods. Childs and the other Cadets wore special military-style uniforms and caps like this one while they performed "drills," or organized marching routines. The Cadets took their name from Clayton, the Frick family home, because they often met on the grounds here to practice. Each year, the Cadets held a large party with food and games called a "fête" to raise money to help them buy equipment and go on camping trips.
