Carved wooden clogs with high flared wedges. The toe and heel are pointed. The sole and narrow sides of the wedges are faced with carved ivory plaques. On the sole the intricate carved designs consist of scrolling branches with roses and carnations growing from a kantharos type vase. The ivory plaques along the sides are decorated with carved bands of scrolling leafy branches. The outer and inner surfaces have painted decoration on a green ground; consisting on the outer surfaces of flowers in a pedestal vase and on the inner surfaces of flowers in a basket. These compositions are surrounded by narrow borders of leaves and flowers on a gilded ground.
