Beni was sold as being brushed on metallic or ceramic plates (or cups, bowls), or inside shells before making lipsticks. In the early 17th century, ceramics became main as containers of Beni, establishing the technique to product them and becoming mass production possible in Japan. There weren’t only Beni brushed on small plates, cups and bowls decorated with a colored or dyed patterns but also it brushed on humble plates that just pressed molds and glazed a little.
