The forecourt of Ham House includes a Coade stone sculpture of Father Thames reclining on a rock and holding a vessel pouring water. It was designed by the sculptor John Bacon in 1775, an expert in the working of figures in artificial stone. Bacon had worked at Eleanor Coade's Artificial Stone Manufactory.
