This picture scroll was made of poem collections composed by literati in Yanagawa and there were attached illustrations by Soho. Tachibana Ransai is listed in the names of the literati. He was the younger brother-in-law of Tachibana Akikata (the 9th lord of the Yanagawa domain), and was a good poet and a writer. But he died at a young age of 31 in 1831. The picture scroll was made in autumn, 1822, which was one year after he had come back from Edo (Tokyo) to Yanagawa. After that, he wrote many essays of historical investigation in Yanagawa. These essays show his active career of writing and interacting with the literati at a salon in Yanagawa. Aside from Ransai, many other famous literati were listed as the member of the salon. Names such as Ando Setsuan who was a representative Confucian of the Yanagawa domain at that time was included. Soho was probably the painter who were with them.
