At the first step in 2011, art professionals and critics selected 21 artists, and curators from 13 private art museums organized their virtual solo exhibitions. KAP would love to introduce a diverse spectrum of Korean contemporary art to the global audience. Through these efforts, KAP will play a significant role in the promotion and development of Korean contemporary art. Also, the KAP will become a useful platform, which will serve as a stepping-stone to create cultural exchange and global networks with diverse art people. Please visit www.koreanartistproject.com
  • Critic's Note: Kho discovers the distinction and non-distinction between interior and exterior, and the coexistence of movement and stillness, solid stability and smooth change. Through the use of color, Kho focuses on the power of expression associated with our sensibilities rather than relying lopsidedly on abstraction and figuration. The specific way of generating this power of expression is of no significance. It doesn’t matter whether this power comes from a delicate change in brightness and saturation of color, as seen in most of his portraits, or if it derives from a structural combination of colors as a language. Kho accomplishes common art from ordinary things, not highbrow art out of ordinary things, removing an elitist hierarchy from art, by depicting the noble and common ordinarily. He attempts to reveal things hidden behind ordinary outer appearances or things that are so simple that we often don’t notice them. But, this is not as easy as we might think as it is like showing violence without representing it. He achieves this metaphorical work through an indescribable inner resonance of color. As color ensures strength of expression, but has no fixed common meaning, it may become a more intense vehicle for generating individual meaning than any other element. Each individual reacts to the color in his or her own manner. Kho concentrates on triggering each individual’s inner sensibility toward color. This is the power of his aesthetics, generating confusion through the commonplace. (This is an excerpt from an original text.)
