Columba and Agnes (1954) by KIM Sechoong (1928-1986) is a bronze statue of two scared figures. Carved in high relief, this work attributes its pithy rendition of the facial expression of the martyrs to the simplicity of its depiction. The religious significance that the artist sought to deliver is loudly spelled out owing to his avoidance of detailed portrayal, and a rhythmic vibration is brought about by the interplay between the frontal depiction of the bodies and the profile one of the faces.
