Construction begins to wrap up at the Propellants North Administrative and Maintenance Facility in the Launch Complex 39 area of NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This is the facility's two-story administrative building, which will house managers, mechanics and technicians who fuel spacecraft at Kennedy. Next door is a single-story shop that will be used to store cryogenic fuel transfer equipment.
The facility is striving to qualify for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification, which is the highest of LEED ratings. The facility, set to be complete in December 2010, was designed for NASA by Jones Edmunds and Associates. H. W. Davis Construction is the construction contractor. Photo credit: NASA/Frankie Martin
