CE/BA00039. In this work, which was painted in Santander, the painter`s best style can be appreciated. Dated in 1907 and dedicated to his friend, the journalist Cazabán, it shows some unique impressionist features, with a special treatment of light and a magnificent brushstroke. The scene depicts a boat in which two nuns can be seen, engrossed in their prayers and reading, and a young couple in front of them. A rough, weather-beaten sailor, with the sleeves of his shirt rolled up, and who is quite muscly, steers the vessel.
