Christine Stankard Kressley is much like her father (paperweight artist Paul Stankard), in that she derives inspiration from nature. For this work, she carefully studied cornflower blossoms to achieve the realistic likeness. The original piece was commissioned by the museum to commemorate the 2005 Paperweight Collectors Association (PCA) convention, but here the artist added a signature Stankard Studios bee and a pale blue ground that echoes the blue blossom, to make this one-of-a-kind piece.
