Correspondence regarding the matter of Commanding Lt. Weiss of the 7th Hussar Regiment of the French Army

After Lt. Weiss had been to field hospital in Jelgava (Miitavi), he reportedly hit Marshal Oudinot’s adjutant with a pistol, then a sabre, and then finally with a sword, killing him. To avoid retribution from Marshal Oudinot, he deserted and was asking to be hired by the German Legion.
