This technique, revived from 16th Century Venice uses translucent pink glass that has opaque white glass cased on the outside. While the glass is being worked, the hot material is plunged into ice water. The thermal shock shatters the surface, but the piece may still be reheated and worked. The cracks become part of the surface design.
