The reference to a crimp describes the process of creating this floral shape. Ralph Barber created a metal form with a wooden handle that could be pushed into the glass while molten and removed, leaving this colored rose-like shape. Leaves were created separately and added to accent the flower. The crimp rose has become an iconic folk art form representing the innovation of glass workers in Southern New Jersey factories.
