Indian craftsmen were famous for their metallurgical skills since ancient times, and especially for their steel. This dagger has the wavy patterns typical of high-quality watered steel, as well as a jade hilt in the shape of an iris which exemplifies the graceful realism of Mughal art. Notes from the Glory and Prosperity exhibition, Feb - June 2002.
