THE FLYING FARMER DOES HIS WEEDING BY AIR AW/MA Mr. Charles Silvertop, of Signet Hill Farm, Burford, Oxon, uses an Auster Autocrat plane to cover his 1,200 acre farm. The plane enables him to fly over his ground and spot poor patches, wet places needing drainage, straying animals, etc. He also attends distant sales and markets, and transports pedigree animals. Neighbouring farmers have found the plane so useful that in conjunction with Squadron Leader John Arbuthnott, he has started an Anglo-Continental Air Service for transporting people to sporting events. Photo shows - Just a part of the modern farmer's service. Squadron Leader John Arbuthnott, who co-operates with Mr Silvertop in running a charter service, is seen delivering a pedigree Friesian calf to Mr. H. G. Harrison on his farm at Taynton, Oxon.
