The fashion for simple chemise gowns inspired by antiquity called for a different type of shoe, they were now worn flat. This flat ladies’ shoe of silver lamé has a pointed toe embroidered with a solar motif. Embroidered sequins are scattered over the shoe. The instep is raised, oval cut and the entire edge is trimmed with a narrow silk ribbon, run through with a thin linen cord that ties in front to adjust the shoe. This is surrounded by a delicate trim of silver lace. Both side seams and rear centre seam are adorned with silk ribbon. The heel is marked with an additional flat leather wedge.
