This is a typical dance card with attached miniature pencil. It consists of a small booklet bound with one knot of the pencil cord and two pages (one fold) inside. On this are printed the names of the dances and in pencil a young lady wrote the names of the gentlemen she promised her dances to. All are filled on this card. The collections hold other such dance cards, but this one is marked with an image of football players under a goalpost with a ball. The caption says "After the Ball is Over." It is a play on words with football and the most popular song of that year, which premiered in 1892. "After the Ball," by Charles Harris, was the first song ever to become a million seller. Many consider it the groundbreaking moment in the history of popular music.
