This image documents Diego Rivera's work with his assistants on the "Water, Origin of Life" mural. It shows the decoration on the holding chamber's tunnel in the Cárcamo de Dolores. Above the opening of the tunnel, Rivera painted 2 wonderfully symbolic hands that give the city the precious gift of water. Juan Guzmán's photographs of the Cárcamo de Dolores mural were used to illustrate Time magazine's cover story entitled "The Lerma Works in Rivera's Art" in July 20, 1951; and for "Underwater Art," published by Life magazine on September 17 of the same year.
