This photograph, from the "Photography" series, dedicated to the art critic, essayist and poet Alfonsas Andriuškevičius, is more important for what it does not say, or for what it displays in a particularly mysterious way.

A clearly lit object, akin to a shining easel covered with a square canvas, has been captured in a playground. The playground motif displayed in the photograph seems to remind us of a children's world, or a naiveté left behind somewhere. It is a poetic and nostalgic photograph, whose mystery is all the more amplified by the use of light so characteristic of Balčytis' work. A similar relationship between light and urban objects, between mysterious and mystical atmospheres, may perhaps only also be found in the pictoralist photographs of renowned early 20th century photographer Jan Bułhak. Light was particularly important for Bułhak, as shown by his theoretical work "Aesthetics of Light."

When writing about Balčytis' photographs, Andriuškevičius spoke about them thus: "They are fundamentally beautiful. Meaning that they embody the same order that guides the universe." Perhaps this photograph is an expression of gratitude by Balčytis for Andriuškevičius' insight?

The art critic Alfonsas Andriuškevičius made a significant contribution in the 1980s to the establishment in Lithuanian art of conceptual photography, to which Balčytis' work has been attributed.
