Wu Bo-Liang is adept at advertisements, photography and video art work. In this piece, he looks at dramatic dialogue from films of when his parents were young. The emotional connections between the main characters on the screen are almost as if they occur in the real world. Through plot progression, these works meet people’s desire for excitement and change in their own ordinary lives. Wu cleverly uses editing to re-show 1970’s society in Taiwan which he matches with fast paced music from today. The result is emotional scenes that are absurd and funny as he uses conflict and dislocation to identify the hidden character of Taiwanese society. At the same time, the drama of real life played out every day at Taipei train station creates its own art imitating life, life imitating art projection.
