The first number of the year appeared from 1832 under the name "Westbote" (West Messenger). Together with the "Deutsche Tribüne," the "Westbote" was banned from March 1, 1832. Three more were still on sale in March, and 13 were confiscated. On March 17, 1832 the newspaper had to cease publication. Along with the "Deutsche Tribüne," the newspaper was one of the most important media of the liberal opposition.
