Isabel Mager is an investigative and critical designer based in the Netherlands. Mager’s interest lies in the oscillation of design between culture and structures of power. The designer is understood as disrupter between systems that organise life [norms, politics, economics, technologies, geographies, historical records] and the participants of that life. Mager empirically analyses these complexities, social systems and mechanisms which manifest through objects, installations, articles and performances within a design and academic context.

In 2016, upon completion of the BA program at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Mager was resident at Uproot Rotterdam alongside Studio Makkink & Bey, has collaboratively directed workshops on design and privilege as part of the Social Design Masters DAE introductions and presented work at the Decolonising Design symposium Intersectional Perspectives on Design, Politics and Power in Malmö (2016).
