Liverpool Cenotaph was designed by Lionel Budden and comprises a simple rectangular block of Stancliffe stone with low-relief bronze sculptures of marching soldiers and mourners by Herbert Tyson Smith. It was unveiled on Armistice Day 1930 immediately before the two minutes' silence was observed by a crowd of approximately 80,000 people.
