The making of a cloud shoulder covers almost all the aspects of needlework, such as embroidery, painting, hemming, inlaying, applique, patching, pinning, etc., in which embroidery remains as the main category for creating patterns. Regarding the botanic patterns on the upper half of this item, chain stitches were used for the main body while vertical straight stitches adopted for the outlines and gold couching stitches for the hem of belts. The technique of padded applique embroidery was employed for the figures with various gestures on the lower half, making the characters stand out as in real life.
