This dress was constructed in Vietnam using linen with hand-embroidered spots, handmade crochet edging and insertion work in the form of cornelli braid. Cornelli is embroidery that applies cord or ribbon, creating curved patterns in a continuous line, seen in the open seams. This technique was pushed further into abstraction in this dress, which combines the techniques of openwork and cornelli braid to create a subtle and contemporary take on the traditional application. A vintage baby's dress with cornelli work that the designers found in a Paris flea market became the driving inspiration behind a series of garments in Easton Pearson's Spring Summer 2007 season, including this dress.
