Real Fossil - Jurassic 150 Mya - Warm Springs Ranch, Thermopolis Wyoming
These tibiae represent a different life stage for the sauropod Diplodocus. The left tibia belonged to a very young individual, potentially our equivalent of a toddler. The middle tibia belongs to a juvenile (teenager) and the largest tibia belongs to a full grown adult. This suggests these animals may have traveled in family groups - but we cannot be certain. Water transported these bones, and thousands more, to their final position along the banks of a prehistoric river. These bones may have picked up different skeletons from different locations.
