The dish ranks among the finest examples of  rare group of pottery that first came to light in the excavations at Samarra and later in those at Susa. he group shares certain characteristics, such as the shallow form without articulation; low-relief decoration moulded with great precision; and the use of a fine glaze which covers the entire surface of the vessel, both inside and outside.
