Dish with Zeus and Semele

Castel Durante 'Bianco-Sopra-Bianco' dish, with Jupiter holding a flaming thunderbolt accompanied by a scantily robed goddess. His leg upon the head of an eagle, enclosed by a bianco-sopra-bianco frieze of 'endless knots' and foliate scrollwork. The reverted rim with trophies, instruments and grotesque monsters, and the underside decorated with two flower scroll borders in blue. The deep well decorated in a palette of ochre, blue, yellow and sepia.
