For PEZ candies, variety sells. The PEZ USA company has produced the candies in apple, chocolate, cherry, grape, lemon, orange, licorice, and other flavors. (Some flavors, however, failed miserably, like the chlorophyll and flower flavors--Blah!--offered in the 1960s.) The dispensers also came in many variations. PEZ figures represent animals, holidays, monsters, trucks, and hundreds of popular characters from comics, cartoons, television, and movies. At any time, PEZ USA keeps about 60 to 70 different dispensers in production.
