Murot (literally "water wear") is a term referring to a diving suit worn by the Jeju women diver called haenyeo (literally "sea women") when they work under the sea. Each diving suit consists of the lower garment called mulsojungi (water trousers) and the upper garment called muljeoksam (water jacket), and the garments were made by the women diver themselves. The trousers were often decorated with ornamental parts that could display needlework skills and characterized by a loose fit that helped the women wear it even when pregnant. Meanwhile, the jarket was made to be short and narrow so that it could tightly fit to the body, thus helping reduce resistance of water when they were under the sea. Tools and equipment of Jeju women diver should never forget when they dived into the water include nun (glassed swimming goggles), jonggae homi (hand hoe; gather seaweeds), bichang (abalone knife) and taewak mangsari (the diver's floater with net bag).
