Modeled by Gargallo, as entertainment and demonstration of gratitude towards his host, during the convalescence of one of his first health crises, which occurred in the country residence of Dr. Petit, the work necessary to dismantle this sculpture (after obtaining molds) in La Garriga, Barcelona, and reassembling it in the Pablo Gargallo Museum were carried out by Jordi Brunet, in December 1984.
The direct relationship between this work and The Beast of Man, 1904, as well as (in another order and even counting on the lesser freedom of execution that Gargallo would have) between both and Love, 1906, and Terrasa is evident and logical. á Guimerá MCMIX, 1909, included in this catalogue; and among all of them and a good part of the work carried out by Gargallo for the Hospital de la Santa Cruz y San Pablo, 1906-11, and the Palace of Catalan Music, 1908-10, both in Barcelona. The differences are equally notable with respect to the Chimney of the Hotel España, 1899, in Barcelona, initially attributed to Gargallo, who really only participated in its execution, following the project and direction of his teacher Eusebi Arnau.
